Where It Started
We have all been there. You join an important call, and nobody can hear you. You start a recording, and your webcam shows a black screen. You plug in your headphones, and only one side has audio. These problems always seem to happen at the worst possible moment.
When we started mictest.co in 2022, we had one simple goal: build a place where anyone could quickly check whether their audio and video devices were working, without downloading anything, creating an account, or needing any technical knowledge.
Back then, most online testing tools were either outdated, unreliable, or only covered one small piece of the problem. There was no single free online platform that brought everything together. So we built one.
What We Do
Over four years later, mictest.co has grown into a free audio and video testing platform with seven tools — mic test, webcam test, headphone test, speaker test, tone generator, hearing test, and voice recorder. Every tool is built using the Web Audio API and modern browser technology so everything runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is downloaded. Nothing is stored. Your audio and video never leave your device.
We are continuously expanding mictest.co beyond the browser — more ways to test and fix your audio and video setup are coming.
We are a small team of web developers and audio enthusiasts who have been working on this since 2022. We built these tools because we needed them ourselves and figured others probably did too.
